Meet Davy Uwizera
Davy is a data scientist and software engineer with expertise in building big data analytics and machine learning based systems. He has led and has been a part of different projects working with financial, telecommunication and health institutions. His research interests include but are not limited to; signal processing, pattern recognition, forensics, macroeconomics and microeconomics. He has done research specifically in the areas of optical character recognition, image de-nosing using deep neural networks, assessment of the credibility of one currency in the East African Community in terms of consumer price inflation and he has published a paper on Monitoring and Forecasting Crop Production using Satellite Imagery in Rwanda in IEEE international conference on Technological Innovations in ICT for Agriculture and Rural Development (IEEE TIAR). He is fluent in various development tools and languages including but not limited to; R programming, Python, Java, JavaScript, NodeJS, ExpressJS, MySQL, NoSQL, C, C++, PHP, Spark, WRF, Tableau, CUDA, H2o, MATLAB, SPSS and E-views.
Davy won multiple graduate awards, the overall best graduating postgraduate student in the college of business and economics at the University of Rwanda and the student excellence award at Carnegie Mellon University.
He holds a masters degrees in IT from Carnegie Mellon University (CMU), MSc economics from University of Rwanda (UR) and has completed a masters program in statistics at Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and technology (JKUAT). His Bachelor degree is in applied mathematics and statistics from Kampala International University.
